Description
The History of Key West Instructor is a part-time position. The instructor will provide engaging presentations and tell stories about the History of Key West. Instructors will develop their own lesson plans for this course. This position reports to the Director, Community Education, Workforce Development, and Testing.
Examples of Duties

  1. Present subject matter in an exciting way using stories, timelines, photographs, etc.
  2. Deliver high-quality lectures with engaging information.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of Key West and The Florida Keys.
  • Outgoing, friendly, and passionate about discussing the history of Key West.
  • Understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
  • Knowledge of College mission, policies, procedures, and services.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively to meet the needs of diverse student populations.

Education and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Several years of experience as a lecturer, historian, tour guide, or equivalent preferred.
  • Have experience working with a wide range of ages and experience levels preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills in a classroom setting.

(A comparable amount of training, education, or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
