Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) System Design Engineer to join our Resilience Water team in Ohio. This position may be located in Columbus (preferred), Akron, or Toledo.

Role accountabilities:

As a Senior I&C Systems Design Engineer, you will lead I&C and SCADA design and implementation services for diverse clients and projects for environmental remediation, industrial & municipal water and wastewater treatment, conveyance systems, and facilities. You will support projects from inception to successful startup and turnover. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers assigned to the project and preparing technical memorandums and developing design criteria, SCADA system architecture, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA network diagrams, process control functional narratives, control schematics, panel layout diagrams, and interconnection diagrams
  • Assisting Project Managers with planning, developing project scope of work, budgeting, cost estimating, and project scheduling tasks
  • Developing electrical designs to support the I&C systems design
  • Conducting factory testing, site acceptance testing, field checkout, and startup of I&C and SCADA system startups
  • Programing process control logic in PLCs and configuring graphical HMI for SCADA systems on a variety of platforms
  • Configuring historical data and generating reports on a variety of platforms
  • Produce effective and accurate written specifications for implementing I&C and SCADA projects
  • Mentoring junior engineers and designers
  • Traveling for client/project meetings, site visits, etc., as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field of study
  • 10 years of I&C, Automation, and SCADA system design and implementation experience in water/wastewater market.
  • Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain a license within 12 months.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Basic knowledge of Autocad and Revit
  • Ability to self-direct and work on multiple assignments at once while meeting project deliverable dates and completing other task-driven assignments
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as excellent teamwork skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook)
  • Advanced knowledge in applying instrumentation and controls to process and electromechanical equipment and developing SCADA networks.
  • Knowledge of designing and developing fiber optic cable networks for SCADA systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of radio and cellular telemetry networks.
  • Basic knowledge of IT and industrial networks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience
  • Experience in developing bid and construction documents
  • PLC/HMI programming, configuration & startup experience

The salary range for this position is $97,000 – $147,000.
