Role description:

Arcadis is looking for an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer with 8 years of experience to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia!

This is an exciting opportunity for an I&C Systems Engineer, with design, integration, testing, and consulting engineering experience, to join our team and be involved in projects with a variety of SCADA and I&C automation and technology needs. The selected candidate will provide SCADA/I&C design services, technical and system integration services for diverse clients and projects for environmental remediation, industrial & municipal water and wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities. The position will allow the selected candidate to work on client site with direct access to automation systems.

Role accountabilities:

As an Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer, you will provide technical and design consulting services to execute projects for producing I&C testing, performance, training, design & construction documents for industrial & municipal water and wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities projects.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Develop technical & design criteria, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA block diagrams, process control functional narratives, control schematics, panel layout diagrams, instrument selection and sizing, and interconnection diagrams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Prepare budgeting, planning, cost estimating, design and execution of SCADA and instrumentation controls projects and assignments.
  • Provide I&C design to support process control and plant automation.
  • Conduct factory testing, site acceptance testing, field checkout, and startup.
  • Identify critical task process/mechanical and electrical disciplines concerns.
  • Utilize technical experience and expertise in the execution of SCADA projects from inception to successful startup and turnover.
  • Completing, Implementing, and Directing testing and troubleshooting of process control systems.
  • Review unit process control logic in PLCs / OITs on a variety of platforms.
  • Review graphical HMIs, data archiving and report solutions on a variety of platforms.
  • Producing effective and accurate written documents, reports, and technical memorandums.
  • Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field of study.
  • 8 years of Instrumentation and control consulting or integration experience in water/wastewater market.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT license with the ability to obtain GA PE license within 1 year of hire.

Key Skills and Abilities

  • Basic proficiency in Autocad or Revit
  • Ability to self-direct and work on multiple assignments at once while meeting project deliverable dates and completing other task-driven assignments.
  • Ability to execute projects and direct others.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook).
  • PLC/DCS programming experience.
  • HMI programming experience.
  • Advance knowledge of PLC controls and SCADA.
  • Advance knowledge of radio and cellular telemetry networks.
  • Experience in troubleshooting of control systems.
  • Basic knowledge of IT and industrial networks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in HMI/PLC platforms configuration.
  • Experience in IT and industrial networks.
  • PLC/HMI/DCS Configuration, programming, & Startup experience.

The salary range for this position is $85,000 – $130,000/year.
