Insurance Claims and Safety Administrator

Overview

The Insurance Claims and Safety Administrator shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.

The primary purpose of the Insurance Claims and Safety Administrator involves filing and managing all insurance claims for the Navigators. Additional responsibilities include safety and health administration for the organization, including regulatory compliance and health and safety training for employees and volunteers. This position assists the Safety Manager with hazard assessment and plans for abatement and emergency response, and performs other risk management-related tasks. The Insurance Claims and Safety Administrator functions in a cooperative effort with all other organizational teams.

Responsibilities

Claims Processing – 70%

  • Serve as primary contact and provide claims administration for workers’ compensation, general liability, and automobile liability insurance claims from initial claim submission to resolution.
  • Determine claim eligibility for coverage under the terms of appropriate insurance policy.
  • Provide timely and efficient collection of information, documentation, processing and follow-up on WC, GL, Auto, and P-card insurance claims.
  • Ensure proper handling of claims, continued contact with claimant, communication with adjusters or medical providers, problem resolution, bill payments, expedient closure of claims by insurance companies, and thorough filing (both electronic and hard copy) of documentation for each claim.
  • Review closed claims quarterly for changes on bill payments.
  • Provide quarterly and annual claims summary reports to Director, Risk Management.

Training and Compliance – 30%

  • Work with Director of Risk Management to develop and implement organizational health and safety programs to reduce occupational injuries and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Assist Safety Manager in the development, presentation, and/or procurement of various trainings for employees and volunteers, ensuring safe performance of job tasks, including but not limited the areas of industrial hygiene, occupational safety, First Aid/CPR, personal protective equipment, and emergency preparedness.
  • Create and maintain Safety Manuals, training materials, documentation and records as required.
  • Complete and ensure accuracy of OSHA and state-specific safety reporting requirements.
  • Review the ergonomic workstation needs of employees, provide support and follow-up to ensure health and safety compliance, approving special equipment when required (with proper evaluation and documentation).
  • Assist Safety Manager in performing periodic hazard assessments and inspections to promote safe and sanitary working conditions, initiating corrective action to eliminate safety hazards and immediately investigating on-the-job accidents or injuries.
  • Maintain the First-Aid stations throughout the property as required.
  • Participate in the enforcement of emergency action plans in the areas of fire safety, general safety, and blook-borne pathogen exposure control.

Participate in the Navigators’ Safety Committee quarterly meetings and assist Safety Manager with development and presentation of meeting agendas.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ability to lead and supervise others.
  • Participate in Navigators on-site learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.
  • Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver’s Authorization and other releases as required.
  • Participate in and lead weekly devotionals with CARM team.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.

Experience: 6-8 years of progressive growth and responsibility in insurance and claims field.

Technical Knowledge & Skills: Microsoft Office. Experience with claims reporting software. Working knowledge of claims administration, organizational liability, OSHA and other applicable health, safety and environmental regulations desired. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to meet strict deadlines.

Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including verbal & written, to create understanding and build strong working relationships required.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Insurance, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and/or equivalent work experience preferred. Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional (CWCP) certification or equivalent preferred. Certificate of completion of one of the following preferred: OSHA 10, 20, or 30-hour course.

Compensation Range: $67,000-78,000/year
