What is the position like?

This is a temporary seasonal summer entry-level position. Job Coaches provide direct support to high school students with developmental and physical disabilities. Job Coaches ensure clients are continually being supported toward the goal of gaining independence by being in the workforce. Job coaches provide individualized learning to clients at their place of work. Job coaches observe and coach their clients in areas where they can improve and be successful in their workplaces. Job coaches are committed to providing stability in the client’s working environment. Our job coaches are mentors who are eager to support Their clients and have excellent communication and critical thinking skills.

These job coaches will support the Summer Work Experience program (SWE). This program is expected to begin in June 2022 and will conclude in late July or early August of 2022, with the students’ work experience lasting 6 weeks, 20 hours/week. It is Monday-Friday during the day.

Primary Duties:

  1. Work alongside participant as needed to assist with meeting employer expectations with regards to task completion and speed.
  2. Continue to provide training to improve consumer work performance after employer’s training period has ended.
  3. Problem solves to create accommodations or other ways to address performance issues.
  4. Support participants to develop and maintain relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
  5. Develop and maintain natural supports on the job and establish working relationships with the supervisors.
  6. Assist with task analysis as needed.
  7. Implement proper fading/re-entry techniques to ensure participant success.
  8. Maintains contact with MERS Goodwill Case Manager assigned to the participant to report progress and difficulties.
  9. Provide bus training or otherwise ensures transportation needs are met.
  10. Complete agency paperwork including, but not limited to, daily documentation of observations and job coaching/retention hourly log.
  11. Utilizes time at the work site to complete all necessary paperwork when possible, maintain a minimum of 80% of hours worked in billable time.
  12. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

High school degree and experience working in social services is required. Bachelor’s degree and experience working in the field of social service with individuals with disabilities is preferred.

Essential Training Requirements:

First Aid and CPR preferred.
