Job Description
Work Location:
You’ll primarily work remotely, with access to our regional offices in New York. As an architectural intern, you’ll be an essential part of our US Living Teams, contributing to our well-established Architecture & Urbanism group. Our New York offices are situated at 33 Irving Place in New York City and 59-61 Court Street in Binghamton. These offices, housing over 100 employees, are the largest in Arcadis’ USA East Region.
Responsibilities:
- Explore the intersection of machine learning, urban planning, and architecture through creative ideation and scientific research. Combine technical skills with creativity to automate aspects of the design process. Leverage skills with computer programming to advance understanding of how computer algorithms may be used for creating buildings.
- Contribute to cutting-edge design innovation and architecture machine learning initiatives. Use parametric and algorithmic approaches to make design decisions.
- Engage in the conceptualization, schematic design development, and applied automation design of ongoing masterplan and residential mixed-use projects. Be involved in drafting/modeling buildings with computer visualization techniques.
- Utilize your Revit drafting skills to support project development. Use data to optimize and analyze structures using software such as Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of client-directed design presentations.
- Work closely with a senior staff member who will provide guidance and supervision.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Engineering or related field is required.
- You should currently be enrolled in an accredited architectural program.
- Demonstrated artistic and hand-drawing skills are essential (Portfolio required).
- Proficiency in Revit is a must.
- Familiarity with drawing software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino is desirable.
- Skills in machine learning and programming languages like Python, C, or Java are advantageous.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Suite Software (e.g., Photoshop) is beneficial.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
The salary range for this position is $22.00-24.00 hourly.
