Framatome is seeking a Computer Science/Electrical Engineering Intern for the Nuclear Parts Center at our Old Forest Road office in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop technical documentation associated with the procurement, execution, and delivery of various mechanical and electrical parts
  • Review/accept supplier documentation
  • Interface with internal Products personnel including Contract Administration, Inventory Control, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Test Technicians, Business Development, and other engineers.
  • Participate in new product development
  • Evaluation of component dimensional, material, or performance results
  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks
  • Perform calibrations on equipment used to collect and process anaolog sensor signals from electric motors
  • Perform standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, and resolution of field problems.
  • Ensure compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
  • Work on special projects or other related duties and tasks, as required.
  • Gain an understanding of applicable IEEE and ANSI standards to Electrical Products including but not limited to circuit breakers, relays, starters, contactors, transformers, motors, generators, and drives.
  • Development of understanding and interpretation of the equipment qualification process as it applies to the provision of 1E and Safety Related Electrical Products to Nuclear Industry customers

Required Experience

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity:

  • Working towards a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with at least 4 semesters completed. Juniors & Above

  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills

The following may be used to differentiate candidates who apply for this position:

  • Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study
  • GPA >3.0
  • Desire to work in the Nuclear Industry
  • Experienced in Microsoft based programs especially Excel
  • Excellent writen/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software
  • Educational classes in Nuclear/Energy is a plus

Our total rewards package

The range of base salary for the position is between $19 – $23 per hour, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
