We are committed to providing a rewarding experience to interns by offering an opportunity to support and learn about the work done at the Association. This work will be remote. This role provides a bird’s-eye view of the work of the Association’s Entertainment and Influencer Marketing team. In this role, the intern has opportunities to learn hands-on how the Entertainment and Influencer Marketing team researches, identifies, and engages celebrities, influencers, and entertainment entities to participate in campaigns and promotions of programs and cause initiatives. The internship will provide an opportunity to collaborate with teams across the Marketing and Communications department and throughout the American Heart Association. The intern will provide support to and collaborate with the Entertainment and Influencer Marketing team through various strategies and tactics for research, vetting, and outreach to influencers, creative concepting, and performing administrative and core marketing duties.
The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Internship Overview:
- Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week
- Internship Duration: 1/8/24-4/26/24
- Remote position
- Salary: $23.00 per hour
Internship Outcomes:

Responsibilities
- Assist in vetting influencers for marketing campaigns.
- Research potential influencer collaborators for opportunities to advance the Association’s priorities.
- Assist in outreach to influencers for promotional opportunities.
- Assist with advising on influencer social media creative concepting, and content creation.
- Provide ideas to support strategic marketing, public relations, and Marketing/Communications campaigns in support of the American Heart Association’s cause initiatives.
- Assist in pulling influencer campaign reports and briefs in PowerPoint.
Qualifications
- Candidates who are juniors, seniors, or graduate students pursuing a degree in communications, social/digital media, public relations, or marketing with an interest in entertainment and influencer marketing and non-profit organizations.
- Knowledge of the American Heart Association and strong awareness of and interest in current events, pop culture, social media trends (including emerging platforms and AI), and what’s in the news related to health care, heart disease, stroke, and nonprofit organizations.
- Experience working in social media brand management or with influencers in a professional setting preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional interaction with colleagues.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, problem-solving, and solutions-oriented approach
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and seek assistance in a timely manner.
- Teamwork skills and the ability to work with other staff, taking project direction quickly.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection.
- Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30 am-5pm.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
