The Objective: The Internal Communications Manager will drive impactful internal communication initiatives within Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. Through developing and implementing a comprehensive internal communication strategy, maintaining our internal website, providing expert copywriting, and offering media support, the person in this position will play a vital role in keeping our staff informed, engaged, and motivated. The objective of this role is to enhance internal communication strategy, channels and platforms, and promote a positive, informed organizational culture.
Snapshot: As the Internal Communications Manager your day-to-day responsibilities will involve a dynamic mix of activities aimed at fostering effective communication and engagement among PPRM staff. You will manage internal communication channels, such as email distribution lists and intranet platforms, to ensure timely and accurate information sharing. You will work across departments to gather and synthesize engaging, informative, and relevant content; craft internal communications materials, such as newsletters, memos, announcements, website, and intranet updates; and support media relations for the organizations. In this role, you will work closely with the director of marketing and communications to develop and execute internal communication systems that contribute to our organizational success. Your work will empower our dedicated staff, enhance internal engagement, and ultimately impact the lives of individuals accessing our services.
Qualifications: You have at least 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in organizational communications and media relations. You have worked to update and maintain websites and you’re able to develop and align online strategic initiatives with overall branding efforts. You may enter this job with an understanding of reproductive and sexual health care, sex education, and advocacy issues. You communicate ethically and effectively, both written and verbally, with strong interpersonal skills, and are a team player who operates with a high level of integrity. You have strong editing and project management skills. You may be bilingual in English and Spanish.

Primary Areas of Responsibility/Essential Functions:
- Internal communications (50%):
- Develop and implement comprehensive internal communication systems aligned with PPRM’s strategic objectives, values, and culture.
- Establish metrics and feedback mechanisms to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of internal communication initiatives.
- Work across different departments to curate engaging and informative content for internal communications, including newsletters, memos, intranet updates, and announcements.
- Identify key messages, communication channels, and tactics to effectively engage and communicate with staff; Ensure timely and accurate distribution of communications through appropriate channels.
- Manage the internal agency email inbox and editorial calendar.
- Work with HR and Employee Experience to organize content on the Intranet.
- Coordinate monthly and quarterly updates to the organization from the leadership team.
- Create, manage, and edit presentations for internal board & staff meetings/trainings.
- Manage the language translation process with our vendor on behalf of the organization.
- Copywriting and Media Support (30%):
- Draft and edit compelling and persuasive copy for internal communication materials, emails, newsletters, announcements, video scripts, fact sheets, and more.
- Ensure consistency in messaging and adherence to the organization’s brand voice and guidelines.
- Monitor the media inbox, and provide communications support as needed, including drafting press statements, developing talking points, and organizing the logistics of press conferences, interviews, and media briefings.
- Website maintenance (20%):
- Regularly review and update website pages content to ensure relevance, consistency, and alignment with organizational messaging.
- Collaborate with IT, Planned Parenthood Online (PPOL) team members, and vendors to implement design changes, functionality improvements, and troubleshooting.
- Manage requests, and update website pages on behalf of PPRM departments.
Abortion Care: We all work in abortion care, whether it is referrals, information, education, counseling, performing, scheduling, etc. In this role, you will create or manage communication for PPRM and PPRM services including abortion care.

COVID-19 Vaccine: PPRM requires that all employees are fully vaccinated as a condition of employment. An employee is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) or one dose of a single- dose vaccination (Johnson and Johnson/Janssen). Proof must be uploaded upon starting. You will upload a picture or pdf of your vaccination card(s) on your first day of orientation.
Flu Protocol: All employees working directly with the public are required to have the flu shot or wear a mask during patient contact or while in the health center from October 1 – April 30 each year (Flu Season). The flu shot will be available to health center employees in the health center in addition to being able to seek the flu vaccine externally through the medical plan or reimbursement.
