Title: International Tax Manager- Assistant Director (Various Locations)

The opportunity

EY is seeking a tax professional for the internal tax department. The tax professional will focus on international tax research/planning and the presentation of the planning ideas on the tax returns for both the EY US and the global EY firms. The tax professional will be expected to analyze information thoroughly and accurately and prepare practical and creative approaches to tax issues. The tax professional should have existing knowledge of international tax provisions including foreign tax credits, branch taxes, section 163(j), section 385, reorganization provisions, treaty qualification, US trade or business rules, and permanent establishments. The tax professional should also be familiar with Forms 1120-F, 5471, 8833, 8858, 8865, W-8, 1042, 1099, and other miscellaneous tax returns.

Your key responsibilities

  • Apply an in-depth understanding of complex tax concepts to internal and external situations affecting EY US and global EY firms.
  • Assist in developing tax planning strategies that reduce the overall tax costs to the firm.
  • Identify and determine the taxation of different transactions undertaken by EY US and global EY firms.
  • Identify tax issues and propose solutions.
  • Perform tax research and prepare responses to inquiries from various tax jurisdictions and internal EY business leaders.
  • Prepare audit responses to minimize exposure by providing supporting documentation.
  • Research tax laws, statutes/regulations, etc. to achieve firm compliance.
  • Assist with special projects as requested.
  • Apply sound business judgement and healthy skepticism by analyzing financial and transactional data.

Skills and attributes for success

This position is for international research and planning. As such, day to day decisions will be related to analysis and understanding of new and existing tax law and its application to EY operations. The chosen professional will work closely with other internal finance team members as well as client serving professionals.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree, with emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 5 plus years relevant international tax consulting experience, or equivalent experience in business or industry.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent managerial and organizational skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of international taxation from both a planning and compliance standpoint.
  • Broad exposure to federal income taxation as well as worldwide tax issues.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Positive attitude and approach and willingness to accept new challenges.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Advanced degree in Tax or Law.
  • CPA or other relevant certification.

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $105700 to $191800. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $126800 to $217900. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
