Operations Manager – SBP Poplar

Operations Manager The Operations Manager is the guide for front desk staff in creating a welcoming, accessible, smooth and high-quality experience at Seattle Bouldering Project. Responsible for coordinating staffing, customer service, training, and cross-departmental logistics for the front desk team, the Operations Manager brings enthusiasm, vision, and leadership to the hub of the gym: the front desk.

Staff Management

    • Maintain employee motivation and job satisfaction via dynamic leadership and support. This position is responsible for coaching, mentoring and actively leading the operations team in the BP customer experience vision and values.
    • Interview, hire, train, manage, evaluate performance, and facilitate growth opportunities for all operations staff.
    • Schedule staff via organized, economical, and responsive staffing systems. Communicate with staff to adapt to the real-time needs of the facility.
    • Manage with positivity, flexibility, and a growth mindset. Maintain discipline, quality, and professionalism among staff.
    • Empower, enable, and assist the Operations Supervisors in overseeing all floor activities. Facilitate weekly meetings with the Supervisor team. Ensure that all Operations Specialists maintain retail stocking and presentation.
    • Communicate with management and staff to ensure operational quality and consistency across gym offerings.
    • Collaborate with accounting, payroll, billing, and HR departments to achieve goals within established parameters.
    • Create, maintain and ensure training and quality assurance on retail inventory, POS processes and customer database and billing software systems.

Facility and Retail Management

    • Work with the Facility Manager to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient facility. Manage shift supervisors as the safety leads on the floor.
    • Collaborate with other departments to maintain facility ordering and inventory, and to ensure that facilities and equipment remain clean, functioning, and high quality.
    • Serve as Operations lead in creating retail-specific brand events and offer learning experiences for the operations team.
    • Maintain organized, clean, and thoughtfully-arranged retail and lobby areas.

Other Duties

    • Serve as Operations Specialist, or other roles as needed. Work at least 2 scheduled floor shifts.
    • Daily Operations Management Responsibilities.
    • Oversee the financial and labor hours budgets for the Operations department. Lead weekly meetings with the supervisor team.
    • Attend and support management team meetings. Expect to have weekly check-ins with the GM and with the Seattle manager team.
    • Be proactive in professional development and work with the GM on continual leadership development.
    • Collaborate with BP Support team and SBP departments to maintain facility and retail ordering and inventory.
    • Work with GM and Managerment team to create, plan and staff SBP events, and work with the Marketing Team as promotions occur.

Risk Management

    • Practice and support risk management. Create efficient systems to intake, communicate, and lead the incident reporting process.
    • Ensure all programs have sufficient emergency support through systems and notification sequences.
    • Maximize loss prevention.
    • Act as Incident Commander in an emergency in the building.

Interpersonal Contacts & Working Conditions

    • It is imperative to maintain excitement about the culture and community at the Seattle Bouldering Project. The Operations Manager is at the forefront of this aspect of the gym. The Operations Manager leads the staff in supporting the Seattle Bouldering Project community and must conduct themselves accordingly.
    • Duties require the availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs and events, including evenings and weekends. Duties often occur before and after regular business hours. The Operations Manager should expect to be onsite at least 35 hours per week, work at least 2 desk shifts per week, and be reasonably responsive to staff via phone or slack when not at the gym.

Qualifications

    • 2+ years management experience leading a team of 15+ staff members.
    • Additional leadership experience is helpful.
    • Proficiency in Rock Gym Pro and/or Approach software is a plus.
    • Proficiency in Google and Microsoft Office suites.
    • A basic understanding of accounting principles.

$65,500 – $72,000 a year
