The Boeing Company is seeking an Associate ISS Software Engineer to join their team in Houston, TX.
This position will support the International Space Station (ISS) program and is responsible for maintaining the on-orbit software which includes all software development, simulation, testing, and integration. In addition, the ISS software teams integrate data and maintain ground based software tools.
This exciting software engineer position will work on existing and emerging programs. Software written will be used to support the International Space Station program.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
- Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system
- Develops test procedures and documents test results to ensure software system requirements are met
- Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics.
- Fixes software issues
- Collaborating with System Engineers/Analysts as well other members of the Integrated Product Team
- Highly motivated and must work well in a team environment
- Works under general direction
This position is hybrid. This means the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location. This is at the hiring manager’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications :
- Bachelor degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistr y
- This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility
- Experience working on a team of software engineers in the development of a software system
- 1+ years of direct experience designing and developing software for a real time or non-real-time system
Preferred Qualifications:
- ABET accreditation preferred
- Experience with software development using either Java, C++, C#, Python , or other software languages
- Software test experience
- Experience with Linux/Unix operating system, Unix scripting, integration of COTS software, and SQL DB is a plus
- Prior avionics software development experience is a plus
- Experience with web development is a plus
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and Agile software methodologies is a plus
- Familiarity with formal development process and current software engineering topics is highly desired
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability and desire to work in a team environment
- Able to work under general direction and interface directly with users, customers, or other stakeholders to facilitate requirements definition and iterate designs
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:

Pay Range Summary:
Level 2/Associate: $90,920 – $123.050
