This is a paid internship, range of $19hr – $22/hourly (depending on role and qualifications) for those currently pursuing undergraduate degrees and higher rates for those currently pursuing graduate level degrees.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Sound Transit’s Art and Architecture Department oversees the fantastic Art and Architecture Design throughout the Puget Sound region – Link, Sounder, ST Express, and Tacoma Link. The Art intern will have an opportunity to be a part of the team that oversees our Art and Architecture services and learn how a large regional transit system is managed.
Sound Transit has an exciting paid Art internship available for the summer of 2023! This position may be eligible for remote or hybrid options. This is a great opportunity for currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students who want to observe and participate in real world application of their current field of study with a focus on Art at Sound Transit Systems. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- Assist in developing interpretive material about artworks in-development and at facilities in-operation.
- Coordinate content with Sound Transit Art (Start) staff for permanent site plaques, archival histories, and both digital and hard-copy artwork maps focused on informing the public about the intent of the artists and the backstories of the artwork.
- Develop a content distribution plan.
- Train on how artwork is produced and how records are kept within our transit system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be a current student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor’s or graduate degree program in Art, Art History, Architecture, English, Museum Studies, Communications or Library Science, or other closely related field of study.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Interest in contemporary and public art practices, which can be expressed through strong written and visual communication abilities. Strong coordination skills with a basic understanding of data management will be extremely helpful.
