Umatilla Electric Cooperative is seeking an IT Analyst to join our growing team. The IT Analyst will manage the server and storage environment and find technology improvements to help UEC grow securely and quickly by analyzing current and future business needs. Umatilla Electric Cooperative offers an atmosphere of cooperation and seeks an IT Analyst to become an integral part of the Information Technology Department.
SUMMARY
The IT Analyst is responsible for designing, engineering, monitoring, and supporting the server and storage environment, which supports critical employee workflows. They will find technology improvements to help UEC grow securely and quickly by analyzing current and future business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include other duties as assigned.
IT Analyst I & II:
- Design, engineer, administer, monitor, and support server and storage environment.
- Use programming/scripting languages and database queries to provide solutions.
- Analyze and solve problems of moderate complexity.
- Document all implementations, standards, and changes and provide knowledge transfer to other IT team members so that they may provide basic support.
- Suggest standards, practices, and procedures for continual improvement in delivering IT services.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the UEC technology environment and integration with other systems. Initiate, plan, and implement upgrades.
- Engage actively with third-party support vendors for database/application support, patch management, incident resolution, or changes. Maintain an in-depth understanding of the environment and thoroughly discuss all issues/requests with the managed service provider until resolved.
- Initiate and engage in active discussions with the business units to analyze business needs and thoroughly outline technology improvements within the context of current and future business needs.
- Monitor and manage system backups.
IT Analyst II:
- Design, build, and test scalable cloud environments for hosting and delivering services. Provide technical leadership and oversight for Microsoft Cloud by defining standards and best practices.
- Engineer solutions with vendor partners and systems to support rapid growth.
- Work with other departments to ensure the backup frequency is adequate.

IT Analyst I & II:
- Participate in IT Support Desk functions by taking calls or emails and being an escalation point for the Support Desk Specialists. Track all incidents or requests using the ticket tracking application. Provide basic support for non-focus areas when other IT team members are out of the office.
- Triage all reported issues through dialogue with the end user to thoroughly understand the impact and scope of the issue.
- Escalate issues to other members of the IT staff.
- Monitor and respond to system events and alerts.
- Identify own work based on a broad direction based on UEC priorities. Day-to-day work is self-initiated and self-directed.
- Ensure confidentiality of business information and personnel records.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and foster a spirit of cooperation in the workplace.
- Serve in the “Tech on Call” rotation to support after-hour member needs.
- Conduct themselves in a manner that reflects well on UEC and contributes to harmonious relations with members and the general public.
- Respectfully take direction from Supervisor and keep the Supervisor informed of issues in areas of responsibility in a timely manner.
- Maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
- A valid Driver’s License is required.
IT Analyst II:
- Serve in an active leadership role developing and mentoring information technology staff.
- Keep well informed of the latest industry standards regarding IT infrastructure and cybersecurity design.

IT Analyst I & II: This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Education:
IT Analyst I & II: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
Experience:
IT Analyst I: No experience required.
IT Analyst II: Five (5) years of experience in computer science or related discipline or a combination of education and experience.
Required Skills:
IT Analyst I:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Servers, Linux Servers, Microsoft Windows and end user computing environments.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365
IT Analyst II:
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Servers, Linux Servers, Microsoft Windows, and end user computing environments.
- Strong technical skills in Microsoft 365 and Azure AD.
- Strong knowledge and experience with Veeam or related technology.
- Strong knowledge and experience with VMWare or related technology.
Preferred Skills/Desired Certifications:
IT Analyst I:
- Experience with SQL Server or Oracle
- Experience with Azure AD
- Experience with Veeam or related technology.
- Experience with VMware or related technology.
IT Analyst II:
- Experience with SQL Server or Oracle.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services.
- Prior proven experience with cloud conversions.
