Why does the job exist?
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) maintains a vast network of transportation infrastructure including roads, transit systems, railways, and airports. This position serves as part of the Application Development team to help ensure availability and security of critical systems and to help plan, develop, and deploy new business solutions.
How does it get done?
Under general supervision, staff in this position conduct a variety of tasks including application development, production application support, application server administration, operations monitoring, and vulnerability management.
Who are the customers?
This position serves customers from all over the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT), and can also include external customers.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have preferred experience/education in the following areas:
* Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts;
* Web application development using .NET and C#;
* JavaScript and JavaScript libraries such as jQuery;
* SQL Server or another relational database;
* Familiarity with Agile methodology;
* Support of COTS applications;
* Familiarity with IIS Manager and server configuration.
Minimum Qualification
Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in software programming. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
