THIS POSTING WILL BE USED TO CONDUCT ONGOING RECRUITMENT AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL POSITIONS HAS BEEN FILLED.
Why does the job exist?
The purpose of position is to support GenTax, the tax processing system of record for New Mexico, and Taxpayer Access Point (TAP) the online tax filing system for New Mexico. This position works with the GenTax Bureau to administer and distribute over $16 billion of tax revenue to the counties, municipalities and other beneficiaries of New Mexico.
How does it get done?
This position:
* Develops and implements software changes to GenTax and Taxpayer Access Point (TAP. )
* Develops application specifications, write application code, & perform application unit testing.
* Works with the GenTax team to problem-solve and respond quickly to changing requirements and customer needs.
* Is responsible for identifying and investigating complex issues to aid in decision making and developing solutions.
* Configures functionality to meet business needs using tools within the software’s user interface, as well as either VB.Net or C#.
* Creates and modifies SQL queries to efficiently retrieve data from a relational database, implement new features and navigate them through testing and deployment.
* Works with business analysts and quality assurance analysts during the testing process to ensure that the solution meets the business needs.
Who are the customers?
Customers include internal Taxation and Revenue Department users of the GenTax system, taxpayers using Taxpayer Access Point to file and pay any of the over 40 tax programs supported in the tax system, and the counties, municipalities and other beneficiaries of New Mexico.
Ideal Candidate
Preferred experience:
*At least four years of experience:
— Designing, developing, testing, debugging, troubleshooting and implementing complex business applications using .Net with Visual Studio. A strong understanding of Object Oriented programming with a focus on .NET. VB.NET is preferable but C# would suffice.
— Developing or maintaining complex windows applications.
— Working/interfacing with MS SQL Server.
— Two to four years of experience designing XML schema, developing transformation using XSLT and processing XML
documents.
* Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are critical to communicate in an ever-changing, fast-paced
environment.
* A strong sense of personal ownership and pride in your work and the ability to work independently, as well as contribute
significantly in coordination with a team.
* Enthusiasm to take on challenges, be curious, grow, and learn from others
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and four (4) years of experience in software programming. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must be current with all tax reporting/payment. Employment is subject to pre-employment criminal background check to include fingerprint checks and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage. Travel statewide is required.
