Description
Responsible for maintaining, testing, updating and modifying assigned computer applications, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management System (RMS), Jail Management System (JMS), Mobile dispatch program. Incumbent must coordinate implementation of new systems. Duties also include generating access and security related reports.
Duties

  • Maintains agency CAD, RMS, JMS, and Mobile software suite of services, ensuring processes are operating effectively and efficiently.
  • Provides training and support for all applications supported by the Sheriff’s Office including but not limited to – CentralSquare Suite of applications, TRACS, Microsoft Office suite of applications, etc.
  • Supports/Troubleshoots technical issues within Microsoft Dynamics NAV and JET Reports.
  • Implements and updates GIS mapping systems and databases.
  • Supports/Troubleshoots Windows Desktop Operating Systems.
  • Installs computer software in accordance with agency policy.
  • Obtains or develops effective computer related training materials and provide effective instruction to facility personnel as required in accordance with agency policies.
  • Generates accurate access related reports in a timely manner upon request from authorized personnel and in accordance with agency policy.
  • Researches and assesses the compatibility of new software products under consideration for purchase, ensuring that the software is compatible with current hardware/network infrastructure.
  • Analyzes and verifies data input, identifying and sending any data entry inconsistencies to the appropriate personnel for resolution.

  • Updates in a timely manner computer workstations and software pursuant to manufacturer’s/vendor’s specifications.
  • Performs various support functions as required, relative to the operation and/or maintenance of the agency’s computer systems.
  • Prepares flow charts and program documentation for each computer application as appropriate, ensuring that all documentation is complete, accurate and comprehensive to facilitate future revisions, enhancements, and maintenance of the application.
  • Serves as a liaison between the agency and various software distributors in order to resolve in a timely manner any problems or malfunctions related to records software.
  • Processes the destruction authorization and related documents in a timely manner in accordance with applicable State Laws and agency policy.
  • Follows all leave and attendance related policies/procedures, including, but not limited to arriving on time, working the entire shift, submission of vacation and personnel requests, notification of supervisor regarding absence from work due to illness or untimely incidents and notification of supervisor concerning overtime hours worked.
  • Demonstrates a polite, helpful, courteous, and professional image when engaged in any activity with the public.
  • Checks their assigned mailbox, telephone/electronic messages (email), responding to messages in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Operates and cares for equipment to manufacturers’ specifications and / or within the specified parameters and in accordance with agency policies.
  • Demonstrates an understanding, consideration, and respect of cultural, religious, and gender differences when interacting with the public and colleagues.
  • Complete all assignments and/or special projects to specifications as directed.
  • Abides by all agency policies.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Associate Degree with computer related course work or 3 years of progressive work experience in an IT enterprise system setting.
  • Speak and understand the English language
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Knowledge of CentralSquare suite of applications.
  • Previous experience supporting a financial software solution is a plus.
  • Internal candidates must have successfully completed their probationary period
  • Internal candidates with punitive disciplinary action within 365 days are ineligible

The Sheriff’s Office participates in the Florida Retirement System. Employees have a choice from two plans under the FRS:Pension Plan and Investment Plan. The Sheriff’s Office makes a contribution as set by the Florida legislature towards the plan of choice for each employee and the employee makes a contribution of 3%. Deferred Compensation Plans
