This position has a major responsibility for planning, coordinating, monitoring and implementing systems support (60%), as well as providing inventory reports and help desk documentation in support of University Recreation & Wellness and Student Affairs IT hardware and software (30%), including other related duties (10%).

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree.

Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of tier 1 windows hardware and software support.
  • At least one (1) year inventory and asset software or Point of Sale experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service, organizational, communication, writing, technical prioritization and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

This position is only open to current UMD employees.

Preferences:

Preferred

  • Degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
  • Recent certification in hardware, networking, project management and/or IT security.
  • Working knowledge with configuring point of sale peripheral hardware, networking and software.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and solve a variety of technical problems.
  • Experience working with Content Management Systems (Drupal) and Microsoft SQL.
  • Experience working with asset inventory (KACE) software.
  • Knowledge of Division of Student Affairs or Information Technology operations.
  • Two (2) years experience with campus networking.

Additional Certifications:

Required:

  • Possess (or obtain within 3 months of start date) and maintain American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer / AED / First Aid certification.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Additional Information:

This position has a major responsibility for planning, coordinating, monitoring and implementing systems support (60%), as well as providing inventory reports and help desk documentation in support of University Recreation & Wellness and Student Affairs IT hardware and software (30%), including other related duties (10%). Some weekend and evening work required.

Full-time professional exempt staff position with full benefits. Benefits include but are not limited to: 22 days annual leave, 14 paid holidays, 3 days personal leave, 15 days sick leave; University contributions to health insurance and retirement plans; tuition remission.

Salary Range: $65,000 – $69,000.

Physical Demands

  • Exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally and/or a negotiable amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects like personal computers, servers, mobile devices, cables, printers, monitors, and other equipment.
  • Other work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to travel around campus for meetings and attend to duties, including driving a vehicle to deliver and pick up equipment.
  • Ability to work onsite.
  • Some weekend and evening work will be required.
