Job Title: Help Desk Specialist

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Information Technology Manager

BASIC FUNCTION: The Help Desk Specialist is responsible for assisting the Information Technology Manager in all areas of IT for the Park District. The Help Desk Specialist provides information technology support to all District employees, by administering, supporting, and troubleshooting hardware and software which comprises the District’s website, intranet, and internet computer networks. A flexible schedule is required as hours for this position can fluctuate based on season and/or scheduled projects. Help Desk Specialist shall be on call (evenings and/or weekends) for information technology outages and emergencies.
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assist with inventory, repair, maintenance and replacement of all district technology equipment.
- Resolve all computer errors, frozen terminals, WAN technologies, wireless issues and printer problems.
- Provide support to users on computers, printers, networks, Wi-Fi, telephones, cell phones and software applications.
- Installs computer system hardware and replaces defective components, as needed.
- Installs and troubleshoots appropriate software.
- Assists with IT projects, conversions and rollouts.
- Works with outside vendors on Park District software including BS&A, Rectrac, Novatime, etc.
- Oversee Knowbe4 security awareness training tool
- Oversee the District’s Board Room equipment, including preparation for meetings
- Assist with New Tee-up system, including hardware & software equipment
- Assist with Point-Of-Sale setups and configurations with Rectrac POS software
- Assist with Front desk coverage when needed
- Assist with on-boarding and off-boarding staff, including updated Rectrac, Teeup, & security systems
- Assist with the operations of District audio/visual equipment
- Write and maintain procedure manuals for key hardware and software
- Organize and catalog the Park District software and hardware
- Act as backup IT Support for IT Manger as needed
- Rotating Weekend Coverage for on-call IT Support
- Drives to various Park District facilities.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Attend training sessions and classes for professional development.
- Assist with training internal staff on internal software – Office Suite and Rectrac
- Assist with Special Events – Fall Fest, Dance Idol, etc.
- Member of a Park District committee, as assigned.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, as outlined in the Park District Safety and Crisis Manuals.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Candidate with 1-2 years of experience of demonstrated success in computer systems, hardware/software installation or network administration.
Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certification, Classes available through District upon hire; Valid Illinois Driver’s License
