The role of the Infrastructure Technician is to plan and perform the design, installation, and connectivity of computer systems and network infrastructure to ensure the steady operation of the organizational IT resources.
It includes developing, designing, maintaining, assisting, and adjusting all new and present network hardware, software, and communication techniques. Technician’s role is also accountable for telephone, data center, security systems and other related electronic infrastructure for business.
Education:
- Degree in information technology or a computer science field
- Knowledge of networking protocols and services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN
- CNIT certification
- BS
Job duties:
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as required
- Oversee network traffic along with LAN and WAN installation
- Inspect LAN and WAN infrastructure for problems
- Design and install high-functioning computer network connections including cabling
- Address and solve system failures to increase network uptime
- Evaluate network functionality and create data backups
