IT Intern

Pay: $18 an hour

As our Information Technology Intern, you’re one of the most important team members at Norm Reeves. Our centralized IT Department in Cerritos, CA provides exceptional services to a rapidly growing collection of high-performing, privately held retail automotive dealerships throughout Southern California, Florida and Texas. The Human Resources Department serves 1,500 employees across 15 physical dealership operations.

The Deployment Specialist will learn, support, and train employees on new and existing software, hardware, and technologies used by the company. They will also be responsible for the deployment and/or refresh of computers and devices, including vendor systems. The CAR Group is seeking an experienced technician with excellent organizational skills, an ability to communicate technologies to non-technical people, and strong people skills who is also detail and process oriented.

What You’ll Do:

    • Become familiar with new software or devices, test and optimize configurations, develop and document an implementation plan, and execute the plan providing the necessary training needed for users to become efficient at operating the software/hardware.
    • Create deployment timelines then track and report on progress from start to finish.
    • Work with vendors and IT staff to develop procedures and policies to streamline the deployment and use of software and devices to improve customer satisfaction.
    • Report, plan, and rollout the refresh of aged systems.
    • Research, recommend and coordinate with the IT purchasing manager to acquire needed software/hardware providing the best price/performance value for the company.
    • Developing and documenting best practices when it comes to software/hardware deployments.
    • Execute projects from start to finish.
    • Generates FAQ and end user documentation sheets.
    • Regular follow-up and updating on rollout status as directed by the Service Desk Manager.
    • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with co-workers and vendors alike.
    • Assist team with reducing the amount of trouble tickets generated by participating in process improvements.
    • Participate in tech team planning on a company-wide basis.
    • Maintain an A+ customer satisfaction rating and strive to exceed customer expectations.
    • Demonstrate ability to operate in a national matrixed organization.

What You’ll Need:

  • Currently enrolled as a college Junior or Senior, studying IT or similar relevant field
  • Part Time or Full Time Availability will be considered
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • An interest in IT and being a team player
  • Technology literacy, especially with Microsoft Excel and related programs
  • Exceptional communication skills
