Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology, University of Wisconsin – Madison, School of Medicine & Public Health is seeking an IT Help Desk Professional to support the computer needs of the clinical and research faculty, academic staff, researchers, clinical staff and administrative staff. The department collaborates with numerous external IT groups including those of other UW School of Medicine and Public Health IT departments, UW Health Information Services and the UW-Madison Department of Information Technology (DoIT).

This position will report to the User Support Supervisor and take direction from the IT Director and the vice chair of informatics.

Responsibilities:

Provides multidisciplinary information technology (IT) services to support complex IT functionality according to work unit or program’s business goals and objectives.

  • 20% Answers complex questions and provides information, creates documentation, and trains end users regarding hardware, software, applications, and technology access
  • 30% Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots hardware, configurations, multimedia, and software applications for various environments and business needs
  • 20% May design and execute the implementation of complex technology systems and services
  • 10% Researches potential technology purchases and makes recommendations according to work unit business needs and requests
  • 5% Ensures confidentiality of patient data, research data, e-mail and other working documents is maintained
  • 15% Advise, consult with, and determine technology software needs of the faculty, researchers and staff, execute purchases and deploy chosen solutions

Qualifications:

Required:
– Effectively communicates complex problems and solutions to people of varying technical skill levels
– Advanced troubleshooting capability for hardware and software problems
– Advanced computer knowledge & experience with both PC and Mac computers.
– Familiarity with common office applications, like the Microsoft365 suite and the Adobe suite
– Works independently as well as collaboratively, maintaining excellent communication
– Ability to handle multiple goals with a variety of priorities

Preferred:
Applicants who meet the preferred qualifications will be given priority
– Familiarity with iOS or Android mobile devices
– Experience with video editing or lecture capturing software
– Experience supporting hybrid meetings and conference room user audiovisual (a/v) needs
– Experience with endpoint management tools such as Workspace One
– Scripting in PowerShell or other scripting tools
– Experience with desktop automated imaging systems, remote hardware and software management, and centralized inventory
– Experience with user education, training and creating support documentation
– Prior experience in a customer service position highly desirable

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 75% – 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $65,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Additional Information:
