Position Summary
The IT Senior Change Management Specialist reports directly to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of IT Budget and Administrative Operations and is part of the IT Project Management Office. The Assistant Vice Chancellors and IT Directors are responsible for overseeing the implementation and operational aspects of projects. This position will provide leadership, project management, communication, and oversight of a variety of complex, highly visible, enterprise-level, and IT-specific project-drive change management initiatives. The IT Senior Change Management Specialist works directly with Assistant Vice Chancellors, IT Directors, and others within IT including campus-wide stakeholders to effectively manage complex initiatives that cut across many organizational boundaries.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for supporting the development and execution of change management plans for IT PMO-led projects
- Throughout IT PMO-led projects, work closely with project teams and stakeholders to understand the impact of the changes and develop communication, training, and engagement plans to support the successful adoption of the changes
- Responsible for monitoring and reporting on the progress of change adoption and providing insights and recommendations for improvement
- Collaborate with project teams to identify and mitigate risks and issues related to change adoption
- Partner with EAS Software Adoption team and/or unit stakeholders on creating and facilitating training and adoption during the project and subsequent handoff to the appropriate team after project completion
- Serve as the primary point of contact for IT PMO-led project communication through various channels
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including: VC/CIO, IT AVCs, technology staff, University partners, and vendors to define communication objectives, change management scope, deliverables, exceptions, and results.
Other Functions
- Provide educational sessions for IT leadership and staff on current standards and practices related to change management
- Manage or coordinate 1 – 2 IT projects including initiation, planning, baselining, cost management, scope management, change management, resource management, communications, timelines, and quality.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including: VC/CIO, IT AVCs, technology staff, University partners, and vendors to define business objectives, project scope, deliverables, exceptions, and results.
- Participate in other functions at the University that are relevant to the position and at the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of IT Budget & Administrative Operations
Supervisory Duties
- This position will have the opportunity to supervise 1 part-time hourly communication specialist

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 3-4 years of experience leading enterprise-wide projects or a combination of change management initiatives
- 3 – 4 years in a change management role
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree(s) desirable
- Willingness to obtain change management certification
- Demonstrated experience in project management in higher education
Working Environment
- Standard office environment.
- Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with some evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 13.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $87,000 – $97,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
