When you join our team as a IT System Administrator, you’ll be part of a team who are committed to supporting our staff in their work of serving seniors and their families throughout the state of Michigan. In this position, you’ll bring bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience. You will also bring 5+ years of experience in IT, preferably working for a health and human services company. You will have experience working with Windows server, Active Directory, Group Policy, WSUS, PowerShell, SharePoint, Microsoft Office applications, etc. You will have working knowledge of operating systems, hardware and network infrastructure and an in-depth understanding of computer operating systems, applications and data flow between applications. A valid drivers license and reliable transportation is required.
Here is some of what you’ll be responsible for:
- Use critical thinking skills to meet all job requirements and insure project management
success for the organization - Establish effective, professional business relationships with all levels of management
and customers - Software application requirements analysis and management
- Perform advanced server installation, configuration, and maintenance. Install network
printers, network peripherals and appliances. Setup and install network applications.
Creates and manages user directories and files on the server platforms - End user support, typically level 2 and level 3, for new and existing applications and
systems - Execute hardware & software system deployment and maintenance processes
- Perform software & system administration duties including managing user access and
training - Provide technical support for software applications
- Execute and define key business processes within the R&D environment
- Execute and define configuration management processes in a global environment
- Configuration management and implement systems and application configuration
changes - Maintain user access to ensure appropriate levels of confidentiality
- Maintain Active Directory, to include schema, OU, security groups, user accounts,
group policy and scripts - Program and maintain WSUS servers
- Responsible for backup and recovery systems, to include:
o Ensure backups of databases and servers according to policy or procedure
o Ensure backups of systems and applications are successfully accomplished
according to policy or procedure.
o Evaluating new technologies as needed, assessing current technology for
sufficiency and recommending upgrades or replacements as appropriate
o Validate backup processes through periodic restore. - Establish and maintain file sharing, access privileges and security
- Specialize in detailed enterprise applications support, to include queries, reports and
developing interfaces with different systems as required. Will be required to plan and
gather requirements from end users and vendors as requested. - Install and maintain related software products. This includes performing required
upgrades to ensure operating system currency, improving monitoring capabilities and
eliminating legacy infrastructure - Provide diagnostic support and act as interface to vendors for all failing components
within the system - Maintain servers hosting internal applications
- Assist with planning and maintaining disaster recovery plans
