Why does the job exist?

This position is to serve as one of the technical subject matter experts on server system administration for the New Mexico Educational Retirement Board (NMERB) managing existing server infrastructure and applications and resolving all technical problems for internal and external clients.

How does it get done?

This position is responsible for managing the development, documentation, maintenance, and security of internal and external heterogenous systems. The responsibilities include design, configuration, installation, administration, optimization, integration of various systems throughout NM ERB. This position will be responsible for data protection and integrity of the organization’s data.
This position requires the creation of documentation for all server change orders, procedures, and server architecture topologies. This position will work collaboratively with Network Administrator and IT Systems Administrator Ill in securing and sustaining daily operations of the organization. Additional responsibilities are: act as a technical expert for physical servers, cloud Horizon VDI and cloud server system administration on Amazon AWS. Candidate must be able to resolve system emergencies that have significant impact to production systems. Application of skills in the administration of complex multi-system heterogeneous platforms. Experience utilizing Active Directory Users and Computers, Group Policy, Windows DNS, Windows DHCP, Windows IIS, Windows SQL Server and application servers.

The CIO (Chief Information Officer), the IT department and the agency as a whole.

Ideal Candidate

Applicant will design, develop, install, maintain, systems/ servers and coalesce solutions off the shelf solutions for NM ERB. Engage in long-term strategic planning with regards to new system development and integration of new systems in into the previous infrastructure. Lead and work on large complex system development projects in a team environment. Power Shell and scripting tasks

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in systems administration. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Certificate
from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued
employment. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage. Direct client interaction and some travel may be required. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
