Description
In this position, you will be a working supervisor responsible for oversight of the day-to-day tasking of the systems management and programming teams. This will include, but is not limited to, managing all servers, storage, backups, databases, network equipment, phone system, and application development. As the IT Systems Supervisor, you should have a solid technical background combined with a holistic view of information technology systems and a familiarity of the application development process. A problem-solving attitude with an ability to motivate your team to achieve specific goals are essential skills to perform well in this position. You will be the direct supervisor of the Sever Systems Administrators, Network Administrators, and Programmer Analysts for the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Ultimately, you should be able to ensure high quality deployment of systems and acceptable system uptime.
Duties
Essential Job Functions:

  • Overseeing the IT systems team and development team and evaluate performance
  • Evaluating the functionality of systems
  • Consulting computer users to ascertain needs and to ensure that facilities meet user or project requirements
  • Selecting and purchasing appropriate hardware and software
  • Ensuring software licensing agreements are followed
  • Implementing and managing security or integrity and backup procedures
  • Scheduling upgrades
  • Providing user training, support, advice and feedback
  • Testing and modifying systems to ensure that that they operate reliably
  • Managing secure network access for remote users
  • Keeping up to date with new technology
  • Designing maintenance procedures and putting them into operation
  • Training new staff
  • Abide by all agency policies
  • All other duties as required

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum Education, Experience and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field OR Associate Degree with computer related course work and 5 years of progressive work experience in an IT enterprise system setting.
  • Proven work experience in maintaining enterprise IT systems.
  • Speak and understand the English language
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products
  • Internal candidates must have successfully completed their probationary period
  • Internal candidates with punitive disciplinary action within 365 days are ineligible
  • The following items may be required at various steps in the application process:

Retirement Plans

The Sheriff’s Office participates in the Florida Retirement System. Employees have a choice from two plans under the FRS:Pension Plan and Investment Plan. The Sheriff’s Office makes a contribution as set by the Florida legislature towards the plan of choice for each employee and the employee makes a contribution of 3%. Deferred Compensation Plans
