Hennepin County’s Health and Human Services line of business is seeking an IT Supervisor to oversee the ITRM Technical Services and Solutions Team. We’re seeking a leader who exhibits an innovative and inclusive mindset, strong people skills, and effective resource planning with the goal of supporting high functioning teams. The Technical Services and Solutions Team provides IT support for the Human Service Centers, satellite locations, Public Health Clinic facilities, downtown office areas, and small community partner sites. This team works in HSPH and collaborates with IT department partners with vendors and our community partner sites. This team’s work supports 4,000 plus staff in HSPH in collaboration with Enterprise IT, department partners, vendors, and our community.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at 7051 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Center, MN 55429 and remote as job duties require. The primary schedule will be Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. with flexibility to respond to business needs. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In this position, you will:

  • Provide leadership for direct technical support of Qflow, Citrix, Technology Access Space technology (EWyse terminals used in self-service rooms), EPIC, Immigrant Pro, BI Query, and a large list of other Human Services programs.
  • Provide leadership for IT coordination, planning, and hardware assistance during new building installations, moves, and hardware failures, (i.e., monitors, docking stations etc.)
  • Provide leadership in the management of the software licenses for HSPH software, including purchasing new software and working with IT to package it.
  • Provide leadership for the management of the annual maintenance and license renewals.
  • Lead the research and testing of new technologies.
  • Partner with other Human Services lines of businesses in bringing new levels of service to our residents by providing technology assistance to Lines of Business initiatives and programs such as the QFlow Kiosk and the EWS SNAP projects.
  • Fill the gap in supporting technologies that HCIT deem department specific.
  • Provide leadership in identifying, planning, implementing, and supporting direct resident technology access.

Need to have:

  • One of the following:
    • Eight years or more of experience as an information technology specialist within the last ten years; five of which were at the senior IT specialist level.
    • Associate’s degree in a related field (or approved certification in an information technology program) and six years or more of experience as an information technology specialist within the last eight years; three of which were at the senior IT specialist level.
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or closely related field, and four years or more of experience as an information technology specialist within the last six years; two of which were at the senior IT specialist level.

    • Supervising and directing IT professionals and/or support staff.
    • With development methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.
    • With the software development life cycle (SDLC).
    • With technology software and hardware configurations, setup and support.
    • Working in areas of racial equity or disparity reduction.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Project management principles and practices of effective management and administration.
    • Desktop technology support
  • Ability to:
    • Stay current with trends and maintain an understanding of current and emerging capabilities in work force hardware and software technology and support.

    • Assess user needs and provide recommendations.
    • Facilitate discussions and collaborate with all organizational levels of business and technical staff.
