We are looking for an experienced architectural job captain to manage and oversee the technical aspects in the design and execution of construction projects for our luxury beauty client in NYC. Their duties include keeping a schedule, staying on budget, and ensuring the smooth operation; they communicate with the team lead, and draftsmen throughout each stage of a project.
To ensure the success as a job captain, you should have in-depth knowledge of architectural design, show past work experience with project management and excellent communication skills. The job captain reports to the project manager and is responsible for overseeing a team of designers, architects and engineers to ensure that the project is completed according to the specifications.
* Provide support in drafting and sketchup when needed.
* Creation of process guides and manuals as directed by AVP / MGR
* Maintenance of folder structure and library of WHS & FSS doors / fixtures / graphic files.
* Responsible for gathering information for new initiatives.
* Collaboration with the project manager to develop timelines, budgets and resource allocation.
* Coordination with the design team to ensure the design meets the requirements and adheres to building codes and standards.
*Preparing and reviewing construction documents, including drawings, specifications and material schedules.
* Reviewing and approving shop drawings, samples and other submittals from contractors to vendors.
* Conducting site visits & inspections to ensure work is being completed in accordance with the design and standards.
* Communicating with contractors, vendors and other stakeholders to resolve design or construction issues that arise during the project.
* Maintaining project records, including change orders, RFI’s and other project-related documentation.
* Ensuring the project is completed on time and on budget with satisfaction.
* Strong project management skills, including the development of timelines, communication of project status, and ability to move projects from concept strategy development through tactical implementation/execution.
* Results-driven self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines and priorities.
* Able to multitask and meet deadlines, while still paying attention to details and executing flawlessly.
* Highly process-focused mindset with the ability to own and drive the roadmap with internal and external teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, design, or similar.
- State architecture certification.
- Portfolio of completed projects.
- Advanced knowledge of drafting software including AutoCAD and SketchUp.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to translate concepts into functional construction designs.
- Advanced project-management skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders on a daily basis.
- Knowledge of construction costs and time frames.
Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this role is $85,000 – $110,000 annually. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience, and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
