You Are:

As a Junior NLP (Natural Language Processing) Analyst, you will be responsible for leveraging your expertise in NLP techniques and tools to extract insights and meaning from large volumes of textual data. Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing NLP algorithms, models, and applications to solve complex business problems and improve the efficiency and accuracy of natural language understanding and processing tasks.

The Opportunity:

  • Design, implement, and refine NLP algorithms and models to process and analyze text data, including tasks such as text classification, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, topic modeling, and language translation.
  • Clean, preprocess, and transform raw textual data to ensure quality and consistency, including tasks such as tokenization, stemming, lemmatization, and removing stop words and noise.
  • Identify and extract relevant features from text data to improve the performance of NLP models, such as using word embeddings, TF-IDF, and syntactic parsing.
  • Train and fine-tune NLP models using machine learning techniques, such as supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.
  • Evaluate and validate model performance using appropriate metrics and statistical analysis.
  • Apply NLP techniques to extract structured information and knowledge from unstructured text data, including entity extraction, relation extraction, and event extraction.
  • Analyze and interpret sentiment and opinion expressed in text data, providing insights into customer feedback, social media sentiment, and other sources of textual information.
  • Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, identify NLP opportunities, and develop effective solutions that address business needs.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends, research papers, and best practices in the field of NLP, and proactively suggest and implement improvements to existing NLP models and methodologies.
  • Prepare clear and concise documentation, including technical specifications, methodologies, and experimental results.
  • Present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.
  • A Ph.D. in a relevant field is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of NLP techniques, including text preprocessing, feature engineering, and machine learning algorithms for NLP tasks.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and experience with NLP libraries and frameworks such as NLTK, spaCy, Gensim, or TensorFlow.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into NLP solutions.
  • Experience with data visualization and exploratory data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and experimental design.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., AWS, Hadoop, Spark) is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle and process large volumes of textual data.
