Class Features
The Junior Digital Media Specialist supports the Information Technology Department and the Digital Media Division with all services related to audio and video equipment, graphic design, and video production.
Duties
Under the general supervision of the Digital Media Manager, this position is responsible for setting up onsite live streaming services for City Related Press Conferences, operating, testing, and troubleshooting audio and video equipment.
These duties and responsibilities include:
- Support the Digital Media Department with the management of social media resources.
- Supports the Digital Media Manager with the management of television related projects
- Assists with the execution of selected social media strategy
- Set up and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards for press conferences and additional events as they pertain to City of Shreveport functions.
- Set up and operate video equipment.
- Confer with Digital Services Manager to establish cues and directions.
- Support the purchase and installation of custom sound systems.
- Mix and monitor sound inputs and feeds.
- Coordinate audio feeds with television images.
- Audio and video editing
- Maintain inventory of equipment.
- Additional duties delegated by the Digital Media Manager

Minimum Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position, as well as a minimum of 1 year of experience utilizing, repairing, and managing AV equipment, graphic design and video editing.
- Flexible hours for availability (including evenings and weekends)
- Must have experience with social media management or be willing to learn.
- The ability to work independently, identifying resources and make independent decisions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, departments, and subordinates. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact and communicate across all levels of the organization; must be able to work as part of a team and be willing to learn as technology changes; intelligent, self-motivated, well organized and detail oriented; ability to supervise.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Positive customer-oriented attitude and professional image.
- Candidates with experience in municipal government strongly preferred
- Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web
- Familiarity with HTML and CSS preferred, but not required.
- Computer fluency in Mac and PC
