Job Responsibilities
MISSION
It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.
JOB PURPOSE
Under limited supervision, the Senior Army Instructor has overall responsibility for the entire JROTC program delivery.
JOB DUTIES
Responsible for the overall management of the JROTC program and directs all instructional and operational activities.
Implements instructional activities that contributes to improving students’ content knowledge, mastery of skills, and building leadership.
Establishes, and maintains clear communication between the Army Cadet Command and school administration.
Through strong leadership, advances the mission and vision of the School District and the Agency.
Adheres to all safety and housekeeping standards established by the district, state and other regulatory agencies displaying professionalism and leadership by adhering to all policies and procedures.
Performs related duties as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Agency Requirements: Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university. Must be certified JROTC Instructor.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of educational program development.
Knowledge of SC state standards,
Ability to conceptualize and implement innovate educational programs
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work in teams and coordinate programs involving a multi-disciplinary approach.
Additional Information
Limited supervision; annually scheduled performance reviews.
Limited overnight travel
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of juveniles within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with juveniles within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided
