Junior Technical Editor

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Junior Technical Editor to join our team at our Landover, MD office. Our program provides full life cycle support for a large Information Technology (IT) system for the Department of Defense (DoD). This program delivers full life-cycle engineering support for all system elements including Development (hardware, software and networks), Systems and Security Engineering (Integration, testing and Deployment), Sustainment (Logistics, and field support), Network Operations Center (NOC)/Help Desk, and Government user training support for user community.

The Technical Editor will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Edit documents to ensure compliance with style, design, layout, specification, and grammar and spelling requirements.
  • Edit, format, and maintain documents including, but not limited to program plans, system test reports, procedures, design documentation, requirements, user manuals, training materials, presentations, meeting minutes, and reports.
  • Collaborate with authors, assigned stakeholders, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gain better understanding of subject matter.
  • Conduct quality review of materials and provide peer review of program documents.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An active Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a SCI.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related+ discipline and two (2) years of relevant experience, or Masters Degree and no years of experience, or High-school Diploma/GED and eight (8+) years of relevant experience
  • Must have at-least two (2) years experience in MS Office Suite with proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Skills must include ability to create and modify styles, forms, and templates.
  • Must possess excellent communications and interpersonal skills, be proactive, possess excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, and be self-motivated.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related+ discipline and four (4) years of relevant experience, or Masters Degree and two (2) years of experience, or Highschool Diploma/GED and 10 years of relevant experience
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office Products.
  • Experience working with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with a version control system.
  • Experience with LibreOffice.

Target Salary Range
$66,000 – $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
