Role description:
Arcadis is looking for a Junior Traffic and ITS Engineer to assist in traffic operations/safety studies, traffic/signal design, ITS/communication design, and transportation planning for a diverse set of projects while supporting the Baton Rouge, LA market and beyond.
Role accountabilities:
- Participate engineering efforts for traffic signal design projects, ITS planning and design projects, traffic engineering reports and studies
- Perform traffic forecasting, intersection and corridor operational/safety analysis and the development of intersection/corridor operational improvements.
- Assist in developing and implementing improved signal timing plans
- Interact and coordinate regularly with clients and sub consultants
- Demonstrate self-initiative in solving problems and keeping up to date on the latest innovations in traffic engineering.
- Research and with senior engineers to implement smart infrastructure and CAV technologies in programs and corridors.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field
Key Skills /Attributes:
- Experience with Microstation, Synchro, VISSIM and other engineering software
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work with a team of engineers and technicians and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience providing coordination between government agencies.
- U.S. Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years transportation or traffic engineering experience
- DOT project experience
- Familiarity with Microstation, ArcGIS and VISSIM, Synchro/Sim Traffic
- Understanding and familiarity with MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Arcadis offers benefits for full time positions. We offer seven paid holidays and potentially up to two floating holidays per calendar year depending on start, and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $52000 – $78000 / year.
