K-State 105 Communications Director

About This Role:

The K-State 105 communications director reports within the university’s Division of Communications and Marketing (DCM) and leads the communications strategy and execution for the K-State 105 initiative. The incumbent works closely with the K-State 105 director to set the tone for messaging and ensure appropriate positioning for optimal public perception of the initiative. The director evaluates and monitors effectiveness of communications strategies, implementing adjustments to meet program goals. Reports to the Executive Director of News and Communications and the K-State 105 director.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism or English.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the university and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate input from various sources to frame and present a coherent message.
  • Experience in successfully managing complex marketing projects involving internal and external customers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals, groups and through mass media.
  • Ability to work with creative teams, identify and support brand standards, successfully manage interpersonal relationships, work within strict deadlines, think creatively and learn new technology quickly.
  • Familiarity with best practices for the web and email marketing.
  • Proofreading, copywriting/editing experience, project management experience and a strong understanding of online content and user experience on websites is essential.
  • Proven ability to exercise considerable tact, judgment, confidentiality and diplomacy.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment, and with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the K-State Principles of Community.

$60,383 – $96,623 / year
