KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of free, public charter schools that prepares students for success in college and life. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in The Bronx. Our goal was to graduate students with the strength of character and academic abilities needed to succeed in high school, college and beyond – and in so doing, to prove what is possible for all students. Today, our New York City network is comprised of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Forward, a comprehensive support program for our alumni. KIPP NYC Public Schools currently serves more than 9,350 students and alumni and has a staff of more than 850. KIPP NYC is continuing to grow and opened two new middle schools and an elementary school August 2021!
Job Description
Position Overview:
KIPP NYC’s HR Associate is responsible for supporting the HR Administration functions at KIPP NYC. Reporting to the Senior HR Associate, the HR Associate will be an important member of a high performing People Team. The HR Associate will possess superb organizational skills, sustainability to multi-task priorities and manage processing high volume of work and a high bar for delivering excellent customer service to KIPP NYC’s staff. They will be an important member of a high performing People Team and embodies KIPP’s core value of “Commitment to Excellence.”
General Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Human Resources
- Maintain employee personnel files and recordkeeping
- Review and process all new hire onboarding documents
- Process and track new hire security clearances.
- Process Off board through UKG and other communication channels and update personnel files accordingly.
- Support with New Hire Orientations
- Assist with processing of payroll changes and administrative filing regarding employee payroll changes
- Submit and process HRA invoices for payment using Sage Intact system.
- Process Employment verifications upon request.
- Respond to employees’ Zendesk inquiries delivering exceptional, forward facing, friendly customer service by researching and resolving onboarding or related inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with HRIS team members conducting system data audits for compliance.
- Provide general administrative support to the HRA team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 1+ years of experience in Human Resources, working with HRIS applications, and processing and administering employee data.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; comfort with learning new systems
- Experience with UKG preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Passionate commitment to KIPP NYC’s mission and to high standards of excellence

Compensation and Benefits:
KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $60,000 to $70,000 per year. Salary ranges at KIPP NYC are standardized based on role level and role function. Individual salaries are determined through a lens of equity, accounting for years of experience relevant to the role and scope of responsibilities, and are benchmarked against others within the same salary band. Starting salaries typically fall in the lower half of the salary range, however they are ultimately determined by scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity.
