Job Responsibilities

The Science Lab Assistant should have strong verbal and written communications skills, excellent organizational skills, and a working knowledge of the biology and chemistry laboratory setting. The individual should require minimal supervision: participate in a weekly conference with science instructors responsible for planning, scheduling, and evaluation of the assignments, coordinate with the science instructors and/or Division Dean for budgetary control of supplies and materials, maintenance and repair of the lab equipment.

Job Functions

  1. Prepare and implement laboratory in conjunction with sciences faculty
  2. Maintain equipment and supplies within the science budget in conjunction with the sciences faculty
  3. Prepare laboratory equipment supplies for all sciences courses as directed by the sciences faulty
  4. Prepare chemicals, specimens, slides, materials, and apparatus for laboratory sections.
  5. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the laboratories with respect to equipment, supplies and materials
  6. Facilitate compliance with OSHA, DHEC, and other regulatory agency standards and in compliance with the Lab Safety Plan
  7. Monitor the use of laboratories by all instructors maintaining laboratory security and safety procedures.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Associate, Bachelors, or Masters degree and/or academic experiences in laboratory field.
