The Land Agent I position is with a leading wind energy project developer with its primary development office located in Santa Barbara and headquarters in Houston. Tremendous growth in the wind industry has spurred project development and, as a result, our company has experienced dramatic growth and is looking for the perfect candidate to add to our Land Acquisition Staff. The candidate for this position must have a strong background in negotiation business transactions, organizational and leadership skills, knowledge of real estate titles and the ability to travel up to 2-3 weeks per month.
This position will report to the Land Acquisition Director and is eligible to sit in Goddard, Kansas, Santa Barbara, CA, Denver, CO, Houston, Texas, Marshall, MN, and various locations across the U.S.
What you’ll do:
- Work with the Company’s management to develop land acquisition strategies for green field projects, existing project and project acquisitions
- Obtain source documentation needed for easements or leases from public records, generally located in county courthouses or abstract offices
- Organize and deliver presentations to individual landowners, small groups of landowners and at times, large groups of landowners
- Negotiate and acquire easements/leases for wind energy development and related agreements from project landowners with a comprehensive understanding of the terms and conditions of the Company’s land agreements
- Collaborate with the legal team to oversee the delivery of accurate, complete and authenticated agreements
- Organize documents, records and files pertaining each project and landowner assigned to the land agent
- Engage with and assist the project manager with surface use agreements and other issues as they arise
- Manage land inventory by communicating with landowners as necessary for the development team to prepare for construction of the wind project
- Stay up to date with applicable federal, state or local regulations as they relate to the development of the wind project
- Ownership of assigned projects, including: managing deadlines, multiple project objectives, project time lines, and success criteria for each
- Actively seek ways to improve efficiency of work procedures and policies
- Carry out other duties as assigned
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- This position is open to new graduates just beginning their careers
- Comprehensive understanding of real estate matters
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Outlook, and Green IT Data Base
- Knowledge of access/database experience useful
- Strong communication
- Self-motivated
- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently with an eye to detail
- Team-oriented individual willing to shift focus quickly and efficiently between varying priorities
- Organizational Skills

- Salary Range: $61,455-$156,650, annually
- Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
- In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
