Law Clerk – Real Estate and Contracts

As Spartan’s Part-Time Law Clerk, which reports to the Chief Legal Officer, you will be located at our corporate headquarters and will provide support to Spartan’s real estate transactions, including due diligence, insurance, entity management, and closing processes for purchases, sales, refinancings, and development. We are seeking an organized, detail oriented, and collaborative team player to aid on departmental and transactional projects, perform research, assist with analytical duties, and assist on corporate contracts.

Requirements

Position Responsibilities:

  • Research land use questions, including permitted uses and restrictions, for real estate planning and development.
  • General legal research on issues related to real estate development, environmental law, water rights, and land use/agency permits.
  • Support real estate transactions, including due diligence, contract review, document preparation, closing mechanics and post-closing integration and administration.
  • Draft easements, construction agreements, encroachments, releases of rights of first refusal and other routine agreements relating to real estate development.
  • Assist with issues relating to the management of self-storage facilities throughout the U.S.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience:

  • Interest and/or experience in Real Estate Development a plus.
  • Must have strong PC skills with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook) as well as the ability to learn and use proprietary computer systems and databases.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, a commitment to professionalism, integrity and collegiality, and the ability to work on a wide range of legal matters.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with individuals at various levels within the organization, including high level executives.
  • Must be independent, self-directed, organized and diligent worker, and exhibit grace under pressure, have a good sense of humor and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be flexible in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities and be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple, detailed tasks simultaneously, prioritize appropriately and delegate to resources available.
  • Must have ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must be able to anticipate problems and issues and exercise independent judgment to make sound, justifiable decisions and take action in solving problems while knowing when and to whom to escalate issues.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year university
  • Active law student
  • Must be able to work 15 to 25 hours in our Golden, CO office

Benefits

Compensation: Hourly compensation of $18 to $25/hour depending on experience.

Location and Type: Seasonal part-time Employment in Golden, CO. Estimated hours are between 15 to 25 hours per week.
