Nature’s Workforce, a branch from Consolidated Divisions, Inc. (CDI), Colorado’s largest environmental contractor and industry leader, is seeking an experienced Irrigation Technician to work in our commercial Landscape Maintenance division.
The Lawn Spray Technician will be responsible for making applications of various fertilizers and herbicides to turf, right of way and landscape beds on commercial and residential properties. Must be willing to learn and follow our processes and procedures, in an ever-changing market with many different products. The Lawn Spray Technician may also be responsible to oversee a crew with 1-2 additional spray helpers.
Hours: Available to work from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday – Friday and as needed on weekends during the summer. Winter work will consist of various tasks including helping other crews, applicator training and snow removal operations, which may require working nights, weekends and holidays.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Must be punctual and dependable!
• Ability to decide job site awareness and safety for yourself, employees and the general public.
• Fertilizer and weed control applications to turf, right of way and landscape beds.
• Mix, load, and apply fertilizers/herbicides to numerous sites, in various conditions, each day.
• Calibrate sprayers and spreaders to apply labeled amounts.
• Comply with the Department of Agriculture laws and regulations regarding the use of pesticides, as outlined in the General, Turf and Right of Way categories.
• Complete required paperwork and reports on a daily basis.
• Clean and maintain equipment, on regular basis, to ensure good working order.
• Report equipment malfunctions and damage immediately.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualification/ Experience/ Education:
Knowledge – Basic math skills and conversions required to measure and mix proper amounts of liquids and granular products. Ability to read maps and locate jobs readily. Knowledge of mechanical sprayers/ spreaders, truck mounted tanks with application ability and calibration equipment is a plus.
Skills- Must be self-motivated and self-driven. Must be detail orientated and have great written and oral communications skills. Detailed record keeping and paperwork is extremely important. Ability to properly measure, mix and load fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, etc. Bi-lingual in Spanish and English is a plus.
Abilities – pass a background check; government employee verification; have a good motor vehicle record and the ability to operate equipment such as trucks, trailers, spray rigs, ATV’s and other equipment required to perform daily functions.
Education – High school diploma or GED.
Experience – previous field experience a plus but willing to train the right candidate.
Work Environment:
• We work outside in various weather conditions including but not limited to, heat, cold, rain, snow and ice performing physical manual labor on a variety of surfaces and slopes.
• This is a fast paced work environment and you must be able to keep up with the physical demands of the daily work.
Physical Requirements:
• Physical Strength; hand eye coordination and endurance.
• Lift up to 80lbs; transfer vertically items weighing up to 100lbs.
• Drag hose up to 300 ft.
• Ability to lift, pull, push up to 100lbs.
• Bending and squatting.
• Climbing stairs and ladders; tolerate heights up to 20ft.
• Ability to utilize site sanitary facilities.
