Lead Associate, Data Management (P2)

Summary

At Save the Children (STC) we strongly believe that data and analytics are strategic drivers for future success. We are investing significantly in building our advanced analytics team. The Analytics team at STC is part of the Business Intelligence function and is responsible for driving organic growth by leveraging big data and advanced analytics. The team reports to the Senior Director of Data Governance & Support at Save the Children, works closely with the Finance and Fundraising Division, and will have some interactions with the company’s Senior Leadership Team.

We are on an exciting journey to build and scale our analytics practice; in this position you will apply your skills to unlock opportunities and enable top strategic priorities for STC. You will be working on problems that require advanced analytics applications to create value for diverse organizational divisions such as US Programs, International Programs, Marketing, and Finance, and will impact organizational units that span through multiple geographic areas.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

  • Oversee the life cycle of a particular data set from the Business functional area (30%)
  • Establish data-quality metrics and requirements, including defining the values, ranges, and parameters that are acceptable for each data element
  • Enrich data using research on proprietary platforms and open-sourced information on the web
  • Collaboratively with the others establish guidelines and protocols that govern the proliferation of data to ensure that privacy controls are enforced in all processes and that our Data Policies are followed and enforced
  • Consult with the business to define and document data and terminology in a relevant glossary (30%)
  • Ensure accurate usage and interpretation of various systems data
  • In coordination with other Business Technology Solutions staff support and manage the data flows between various source systems and source types to a modelled database in the data warehouse (15%)
  • In collaboration with BTS, define policies for access to data, including the criteria for authorization based on role and/or the individual (10%)
  • Support the Data Management Team (15%)
  • Support business-as-usual (BAU) core and data quality work across various databases and systems for business-critical data needs and resolve data-related issues

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in data management and/or data manipulation
  • Proven experience analyzing data, documenting issues, and compiling business information with knowledge of industry standard tools (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access)
  • The Data Steward should have business acumen to understand various divisional processes along with management and proficiency of data stored in organization
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and software
  • High-level understanding of how the data flows from various source systems and source types to a modelled database solution in the data warehouse
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize work based on need, level of effort and resources

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 – NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $66,300 – $74,100 base salary
  • Geo 2 – Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $60,350 – $67,450 base salary
  • Geo 3 – Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $54,400 – $60,800 base salary

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location. Employee may be eligible for an incentive program. Save the Children also offers paid vacation, accrued at least 12 days a year, depending on paygrade and length of service, paid safety and wellness leave of at least 1 day per month worked for a full time employee which is pro rata reduced for employees working less than a full time schedule, and at least 10 paid holidays a year. Employees may be eligible for additional bonus compensation.
