Job Summary
As part of the PSEG EH&S Audit Team, conduct audits and special projects to provide reasonable assurance that facilities and operations are being managed in compliance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations and internal policies and procedures and that appropriate management systems are in place to maintain compliance. Although the primary focus of the position is environmental compliance, the position requires audit participation in other areas including health and safety, and other areas as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
- Position requires contributing in a team environment to deliver assurance and advisory services to PSEG primarily on environmental compliance issues but will also include other areas for example health and safety, or others as assigned
- Plan and conduct EH&S audits of PSEG facilities and activities to determine regulatory compliance status and evaluate the supporting Environmental Management Systems
- Prepare formal reports for facility and executive management to reduce corporate risk and liability from environmental compliance aspects of operations and activities
- Provide consultation and advice to Company operating organizations regarding resolution of environmental issues and problems
- Assist Ethics and Compliance department in conducting confidential environmental investigations in support of the PSEG Business Conduct Compliance Program
- Position uses familiarity with technical regulatory compliance systems and issues, energy production and distribution operations, corporate and government agency organizational and management systems, federal, state and local regulations governing air, water, waste and land use activities, environmental management systems, auditing standards, PC-based management systems
Job Specific Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Environment, Engineering, Sciences, or related discipline
- 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, environmental management, environmental auditing, or environmental permitting
- Proficient with MS Office applications including advanced skills in Excel
- Leadership, planning, organizing and negotiating abilities
- Ability to analyze operations and make sound judgments
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Ability to travel (approximately 25%, including approximately 10% overnight) to other work locations
Desired
- Knowledge of the gas and electric utility and power generation industries
- Continuing education in environmental or business management.
- Certified Environmental Auditor; Certified Auditor; Certified Hazardous Materials Manager
