Description
Position Purpose:
The Lead Barista/Cashier is responsible for leading their Barista/Cashier teams and oversight of the Cafe; sites. They will contribute to the Haven Cafe; and Coffee’s success by providing excellent customer service and quality beverages and food products and maintaining a clean and comfortable store environment.
Essential Duties:
- Opens cafes, making ready all foods and drinks for purchase each day.
- Helps train Barista/Cashier staff on Cafe; equipment.
- Provides direction and support to Barista/Cashier staff and volunteers for their shift assignments and duties.
- Acts with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture, values, and mission of Charis Food Services.
- Maintains a calm demeanor during high volume or unusual events to keep the Kiosk operating to standard and set a positive example for the shift team.
- Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating the environment and customers for cues.
- Assists with new Barista training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.
- Contributes to a positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in team member morale and performance and communicating them to the Kiosk Supervisor.
- Delivers excellent customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with the customer. Discovers and responds to customer needs.
- Follows Charis Food Services operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.
- Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that team members can locate resources and products as needed.
- Prepares food for purchase as directed by Cafe; Supervisor; would require cutting and packing food for sale.
- Provides quality beverages, whole beans, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.
- Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of food/beverage and retail environment and food safety and hygiene standards
- Able to maintain a calm, patient, and friendly demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events.
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills and basic math skills (able to count change back)
- Able to stand on your feet for long periods.
- Ability to build relationships.
- Must be able to operate a POS system.
- Must be able to operate a Windows-based computer.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Requirements:
- Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Must sign the Statement of Faith.
- A High School diploma or equivalent education is required.
- Charis Bible College student or graduate is preferred.
- A clean and modest appearance is required.
- Good hygiene is required.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule as this position involves working long days and weekends around events and conferences.
- Must pass all required checks.
Experience:
- Minimum 1-year customer service and/or cash handling experience is preferred.
- Previous food handling or Barista experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-year of supervisory experience and/or leading a team.
- Compensation is commensurate with experience.
