LEAD CREDIT QUALITY CONTROL OFFICER
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Responsible for management of quality control testing function and monitoring of Commercial Banking’s loan portfolio, as well as testing of procedures to mitigate risk and strengthen Commercial Banking’s risk management capabilities for Heightened Standards. Provides leadership, training and development of team members.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Quality control testing function of loan portfolio through review and call back of all new originations and continuous monitoring. Verifies underwriting in accordance with Credit Policy; accuracy of risk rating methodology (e.g., Risk Criteria Paper, Financial Performance Analysis) and thoroughness of risk rating justification, identification of Policy Exceptions and Portfolio Monitoring codes; and call back of key data elements in bank systems such as AFS, FIS, TYSYS and nCino.
- Initiates remediation of data coding errors in credit approval document and bank systems with Underwriter and Loan Administration.
- Identify and escalate underwriting deficiencies and potential self-identified risk issues to Commercial Banking management.
- Tracking of annual reviews, annual BRR assessments, trend/attestation cards, email approvals, Watch List reports for Credit Managers and CBLLO.
- Escalation of past dues: ticklers past due 45 days or more, annual BRR assessments, credit approval document for email approvals, and past due trend/attestation cards.
- Provides recommendations to improve division’s processes and controls.
- Identifies and escalates gaps with division’s conformance to procedures.
- Coordinates submission of documents for continuous monitoring, testing, and audits by 1LOD Risk, 2LOD, and 3LOD auditors.
- Collaborates and assists Credit Officers and Credit Managers with responses to 1LOD Risk and 2LOD testing queries and exceptions.
- Ad hoc assignments.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Must-Have*
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in underwriting medium to large sized and moderately-complex commercial credit required.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a banking or financial services environment required.
Skills and Knowledge
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in underwriting medium to large sized commercial credit which includes analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating financial statements, cash flow analysis, familiarity with various industries, collateral issues and values, loan structuring and guarantor personal financial statements and tax returns.
- Requires extensive technical expertise and full knowledge of commercial credit principles, financial concepts.
- Highly knowledgeable in commercial credit policies and procedures.
- Strong credit analysis and accounting skills with the ability to communicate skillfully and effectively in both verbal/written forms.
- Ability to assume responsibility and accountability for decision making.
- Ability to work well independently and in teams and interact effectively with all levels of Bank personnel and outside contacts.
Compensation
Starting base salary: $122,535 – $208,715 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
