Our Frederick, MD Hub is currently seeking a Full Time Lead Driver/Trainer to join our team!

BioTrans LLC is a global logistics provider specializing in cold chain transportation, technology and infrastructure for the life sciences industry.

Job Highlights:

The Lead driver is responsible for communication and supervision with drivers during their routes, providing mentoring as necessary, and to collaborate and interact with others in a positive, effective manner. Lead Drivers coordinate, plan, and conduct all phases of transportation operations.

Job Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and fumes or airborne particles. Must be able to safely tolerate heat in the summer and cold in the winter.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Extended periods of sitting.
  • Sequential or simultaneous use of hands, arms, feet, and legs.
  • Eye hand coordination.
  • Close Vision (clear vision at 20″ or less).
  • Distance Vision (Clear vision at 20′ or more).
  • Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
  • Depth Perception (ability to judge distance spatial relationships).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily supervision of assigned drivers and monitors to ensure proper and consistent performance of duties.
  • Collaborate with dispatch in scheduling of all drivers.
  • Load and unload delivery trucks
  • Communicate with fleet management on maintenance issues and preventative maintenance of delivery trucks.
  • Help solve problems and make informed decisions that affect the service and profitability of the company.
  • Responsible for making sure that all paperwork is accurate and is submitted properly.
  • Fill in for any drivers who are out on vacation or sick and complete routes as needed.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the warehouse and ensure that the warehouse and clean rooms are kept compliant with company Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Perform all Essential Job Functions of a Non-CDL driver.
  • Job includes Supervisory Responsibilities.

Core Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to read maps and utilize GPS.
  • Ability to maintain safe driving habits and practices.
  • Ability to use applications on Smart Phone in support of company functions.
  • Ability to operate single and double axel trucks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high energy.

Additional requirements:

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent certificate.
  • DOT Medical Card Required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Preferred Clean driving record with no at fault accidents or more than 2 moving violations within the past 3 years (Due to Insurance coverage) No DWI or DUI in the past 5 years.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background check as well as random.
  • Knowledge of equipment, vehicle maintenance
  • Flexibility in scheduling which may include nights weekends and holidays.
  • Experience driving multiple sized trucks. (Up to 26ft Box Truck)
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
