Job Summary
**OPEN TO CURRENT RICE COUNTY EMPLOYEES ONLY**
The Lead Eligibility Worker acts as lead worker to a number of Eligibility Workers involved in one or more health care programs; provides training to other Eligibility Workers; assigns and reviews their work; and performs a variety of tasks as directed/assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Financial Assistance Supervisor.
Examples of Duties
- Provides lead worker duties and responsibilities as a unit technical consultant, mentor and trainer, and assists Supervisor with duties connected with the Financial Assistance Unit.
- Provides backup for Eligibility Workers during their absence as determined by supervisor
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The job requires a minimum of 2 years of direct experience working with publicly administered health care programs in addition to the follow requirements necessary for an Eligibility Worker position:
The job requires a high school diploma and three years of clerical experience, or experience working with the public, OR a high school diploma and two years clerical experience in a social services/human services agency, OR two years of study at an accredited two or four year college or university or similar institution, with emphasis in the behavioral sciences, business, or closely related subjects (at least 23 quarter credits or 16 semester credits) and one year of clerical experience, OR successful completion of the technical college Public Welfare Eligibility Worker diploma program (applicants must be within six months of completion of the program). Successful completion of the technical college Public Welfare Eligibility Worker certificate program will substitute for one year of the required clerical experience or experience working with the public.

HIRING RANGE / UNION: $28.35 – $39.77 per hour / SS Unit – Grade 10
HOURS: Normal business hours are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week.
