Job Summary
Chubb is looking for a Lead Engineer to build our newest cutting-edge analytics platform. The platform contains over eight data science empowered assets focused on solving core insurance operational problems. Our team is redefining the way that we price, underwrite, and grow portfolios. The platform touches every major product Chubb sells (i.e. Cyber, Property, Casualty, D&O, etc). This role will work closely with analytics leadership, corporate IT, and our engineering center of excellence to develop production ready APIs deployment strategies. Analytics empowered technology platforms are changing the way we operationalize model outputs at Chubb. This is a great opportunity to create develop and deploy analytics solutions for multiple lines of business, deepening your insurance product knowledge and technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Develop end to end data workflows for machine learning models (i.e. architecture and flow diagrams).
- Work with engineering, analytics, and IT to develop common deployment strategies for all projects in the platform.
- Lead development efforts across multiple projects at once, ensuring engineers adhere to desired state.
- Mentor and coach engineers and data scientists on best practices, upskilling and leading the engineering best efforts.
- Create and maintain CICD pipelines, improving deployment strategy for assets.
- Create data models, enabling monitoring capabilities of API products.
- Help source and automate data extraction scripts from various information systems (internal and external), with an end goal of productionalization.
- Collaborate with global and regional IT teams to develop governance best practices for the platform.
Qualifications:
Required Skills/Experience
- 6+ years data engineering background with expert level python and SQL programming experience.
- Proven track record of deploying solutions from idea to implementation.
- Experience with managing engineering efforts for a containerized API product.
- Understanding of data models/relational data bases.
- Experience with Github and MLOps required.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with Azure, Databricks, and cloud development preferred.
- Experience hosting machine learning models as APIs preferred (i.e. experience with Docker, MLFlow, or Flask).
- Experience with Kubernetes and bash/PowerShell preferred.
- Experience with Nodejs or Unkork a plus.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast passed, team-oriented environment.
Education
- Master’s degree in a computational science or engineering field preferred.
In New York, NY the pay range for the role is $101,000 to $172,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
