Cognizant Digital Engineering practice is looking to hire a motivated and energetic Lead Engineer who’s passionate about software modernization, with sound experience in LAMP tech stack w ith deep understanding of engineering fundamentals. Someone who loves to solve problems and are comfortable jumping across tech stacks both legacy and modern.

Location : NYC – Remote allowed

The annual salary for this position is between $ 109K- $164K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing a development team of engineers for one of our North America’s client Maintenance team.
  • Work across our branded e-commerce websites, with a focus on creating beautiful front-end experiences and a best-in-class user experience
  • Work closely with product teams and brand creative teams to translate designs into websites that maintain the brand’s unique identity. Define best practices & solutions to improve the design QA process and communicate web UX best practices to brand creative teams.
  • Work closely with product owners to define scalable technical solutions & partner with global engineers to contribute what you build into our global technology products
  • Troubleshoot & problem solve when urgent technical solutions are needed
  • Improve code quality by providing peer code review feedback to other engineers

Key Qualifications:

  • Having 8+ years web development experience, with expertise in the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP or Perl)
  • Should have deep understanding of engineering fundamentals, love to solve problems, and are comfortable jumping across tech stacks both legacy and modern
  • Good to have 5+ years of experience leading a development team, mentoring other engineers & working with the business to define & drive solutions and comfortable in JavaScript (jQuery) and CSS/SASS.
  • You have solution design experience, with demonstrable success in large scale projects
  • Should be passionate about writing clean, modern, maintainable, & highly-performant code
  • Pro-active and a self-starter attitude to troubleshoot and solve problems
  • To be positive, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach
  • Working experience in an Agile team and using Jira
  • To have strong communication skills with excellent interpersonal effectiveness, in one-on-one interactions and presenting to a room
  • To have self-awareness and a desire to continually improve
