TITLE: Lead IT Security Engineer
LOCATION: Washington, D.C.

DUTIES: Support the service owner and service offering lead in the delivery of security technologies. Monitor security systems for optimal performance and investigates, resolves, and escalates security tool related events, incidents and problems. Evaluates and makes recommendations on hardware and software system performance that provide security functions. Performs security assessments of technology systems and recommends system changes to ensure adherence to standards, policy, guidelines, strategies, and security best business practices. Participates in planning sessions related to projects or new technologies to implement process improvement within the functional area. Documents discussions and agreements. Facilitates gate review, change advisory boards and IT operational meetings. Builds relationships with developers, stakeholders, security champions, and scrum masters to incorporate security principles into engineering design and deployments. Build services and tools to enable developers and engineers to easily use security components produced by security team members. Support the ability to “shift left” and incorporate security early on and throughout the development lifecycle. Identify vulnerabilities in code through automated and manual assessments and promote quick remediation. Communicate vulnerability results in a manner understood by technical and non-technical business units based on risk tolerance and threat to the business.

REQUIREMENTS: Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field followed by five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related information security analyst occupation. Experience must include each of the following: 1) Securing Windows, endpoint applications, networking protocols, and devices; 2) Performing technical risk and vulnerability assessments; 3) Working in, or supporting, a Security Operations Center; 4) Monitoring security systems for optimal performance and investigates, resolving and escalating security tool related events, incidents and problems; 5) Evaluating and making recommendations on hardware and software system performance that provide security functions; 6) Supporting the service owner and service offering lead in the delivery of security technologies; 7) Participating in planning sessions related to projects or new technologies to implement process improvement within the functional area; 8) Regularly researching and learning new tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) in public and closed forums, and work with colleagues to assess risk and implement/validate controls; and 9) Conducting quality test activities and validates test completeness in preparation for go-live. SALARY: $150,571 to $154,500 per year
