Overview:
The purpose of the position is to support CLS business development by leading the development of engineered solutions for new and existing CLS customers. This position leads operational design solutions, engineering and financial modeling and pricing coordination with operations management, functional and strategy teams. This role collaborates closely with Solutions Engineering Manager, Product Manager, and commercial leads.
This role also leads engineering projects and initiatives coordinated through APLL Innovation and Process Improvement engineering team within APLL CLS warehouse network. This mid-level position works and collaborates closely with operations, IT, vendors, and project management teams. This position will be tasked to support projects aimed to produce higher productivities through the implementation of best practices, new/ upgraded technology and automation, labor management systems, process optimization, and product flow among others.
Responsibilities:
1. Development of flexible, scalable, innovative, and cost-effective engineered solutions for warehouse operations such as Receiving, Put Away, Picking, and Loading.

2. Supports new business development cycle: lead, solution design, pricing, and proposal development
3. Works directly with commercial, operations, technology, project management teams in the review and analysis of RFPs to identify and approve pricing and contractual requirements to ensure feasibility of projects with respect to company costs and budget.
4. Works directly and collaborate with multifunctional areas: IT, Project Management, Finance, Procurement, and Operations.
5. Coordinates and executes project activities:
a. Process Improvement / Lean Projects
b. Labor Management System deployment/ maintenance
c. Business Development support
d. New business on boarding
e. Technology upgrades
f. New technology deployment.
6. Builds and maintains engineering models/databases.
7. Builds and maintains facility layout drawings in AutoCAD.
8. Conducts field observations, gathers data, and analyses data:

e. Interviews / Observations
9. Complete research on market trends: labor, technology and innovation.
10. Document and publish reports: projects, meetings, studies, observations.
Key Result Areas:
1. Leads in the design of engineered solutions, preparation of financial operational models and the coordination of implementation project cost estimation.
2. Identifies opportunities to introduce and deploy best practices and methods that result in a positive improvement on how the operation and/or the customer integrated solution should operate more efficiently.
3. Assists on the financial estimates and preparation of projects ROI, WACC, ROIC, ROCE.
4. Leads in the preparation of engineered solution presentations for internal and external audiences.
5. Customer / Commercial presentations. Defends proposed solutions and elaborates on solutions justification and solutions benefits to the business.
6. Supports efforts for Request For Information (RFI) and/ or Request For Proposal (RFP).
7. Reviews and analyses RFP documents and data provided by customers.
8. Supports the development of conceptual operational process and layout for a new CLS operations.
9. Leads/Supports multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Project Manages solutions implementation. Monitors and measures solutions returns and benefits to the business.
11. Leads and supports engineering sessions with MHE technology vendors for the purpose of operational process integration
12. Leads and supports engineering discovery sessions with internal and customer stakeholders and validates data, volumes, operational requirements and facilitates the definition of solution gaps.
13. Coordinates and produces final detailed operational layout.
14. Performs audits while new solution is being deployed to ensure expected productivities are met.
15. Performs on-site work measurements to validate / audit expected productivities.
16. Provides integration support with MHE Technology vendor.
17. Performs acceptance testing for MHE solutions.
18. Provides timely status reports to SCS Engineer / SCS Manager on the progress of assigned projects via weekly status conference calls and/ or written reports.
19. Documents and publishes written solution design project status reports on weekly basis.
20. Participates on operational reviews with functional areas: HR, Procurement, Finance, IT and FIT, Implementations, and Operations.
21. Assists on the preparation of executive summaries for every design project.
22. Maintains meeting minutes and project correspondence with project stakeholders, project owners, project resources, and project sponsors.
23. Actively support SCS process improvement initiatives and also evaluates process improvements initiatives generated by the operation teams.
24. Validates that Job Functions, Operator Profiles, SOPs and Training manuals adhere to new design solution.
25. Validates that facility set up solution is planned according to new solution design.
26. Keeps track of his/her project hours and travel expenses and reports them every week in a timely manner to SCS Engineer and/or Manager.
27. Maintains all project records in share point. Performs periodic back up of project data and records
28. Maintains local team standard project templates
Qualifications
Qualifications:
1. Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent.
2. 3-5 Years of Industrial Engineering related experience in the 3PL Industry
3. Must have in depth knowledge of Automated Systems, such as AMRs, Co-Bots, VLMS, etc.
4. General knowledge of Supply Chain Industry: Retail, Industrial, Consumer
5. Experienced in facility planning and design.
6. Experienced in building/ simulating operational models.
7. A proven history working with large sets of operational/ volumes, and sales data for solutions modelling and cost analysis.
8. Experience with conducting work measurements / time studies and building labor standards.
9. Experience completing AutoCAD projects.
10. Expert at using MS Excel. Advanced features (Pivot Table, Functions, V-lookups, etc.)

Candidates must be within 250 miles of an APL Logistics facility or office.
The typical salary range for this position is: $64,480 – $100,000.
The actual salary offer will take into account multiple factors including skills, experience, education and location. Please note that the salary details listed in role postings reflect the base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits.
