Lead Paratransit Scheduling Specialist

As the Lead Paratransit Scheduling Specialist, you will:

  • Ensure all daily routing for UTA paratransit service obligations are scheduled to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), related to driver routing, on time compliance, customer ride times, and zero trip denials.
  • Develop daily blocks of work and balances scheduling of UTA Paratransit and Flex Routing service requests from eligible customers, with emphasis on reducing operational costs by adjusting run times or passenger scheduled times.
  • Formulate least-cost route for trips while guiding Scheduling Specialists in negotiations with riders to make routes as efficient as possible under ADA guidelines.
  • Work directly with Operations Supervisors and Dispatchers to ensure daily work requirements are met consistent with collective bargaining agreement, DOT, FTA, and UTA corporate goals.
  • Evaluate trip and travel patterns of passengers to build optimal service alignments for each day based on demand for services.
  • Identify and implement service schedules that increase effectiveness of existing services.
  • Assist UTA paratransit call center as needed to maintain ADA compliant talk and hold times.
  • Identify options and implements short term solutions to achieve UTA and Business Unit Goals related to paratransit costs.
  • Strategize and assist Scheduling and Planning in implementing long term service alignments, route restricting, and cost effective and reliable scheduling that meets requirements of the ADA regulatory statutes and UTA paratransit policies and practices.
  • Evaluate service improvement suggestions from drivers and passengers and implements where appropriate to ensure best use of UTA resources.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Special Service Business Unit (SSBU) scheduling department relating to daily activities to retain customer focused service delivery as a top priority.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Three years of relevant customer service or call center experience, with at least two years in UTA paratransit scheduling.
  • Associates Degree in Business Management or related field. In lieu of an Associate’s Degree, 2 additional years of relevant customer service experience will be considered.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Trapeze Paratransit Software preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and Outlook, preferred. Minimum typing speed of 30 wpm net, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UTA systems and paratransit policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of UTA fixed routes and UTA Paratransit service areas.
  • Knowledge of how conditions of eligibility affect the way transportation can be scheduled.
  • A good understanding of ADA as it relates to transportation.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct scheduling analyses.
  • Ability to prepare and write analytical reports using UTA approved report writing tools.
  • Additional skills in leadership, ability to prioritize tasks, decision making, conflict resolution, interpersonal communications, sensitivity, diplomacy, time management, and functioning effectively under stress.
  • This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Rate: $24.279 or more depending on experience.
